Me and My Sister...

About a month ago, I decided it was time that I should try holding Georgie, just like Mommy does. So I gave it a shot while Mom and Dad were close by in case I had a problem.
For the record, this kid is a bit heavy. And kinda on the big side.

Then I was thinking maybe this wasn't a good idea.

Then... I think she tooted.

Or possibly even more than a toot.

Yep, more than a toot.

But that's okay. She's my sister. And even though I mentioned to Mom last night (for the second time) that I thought we should go to the hospital to return Georgie - deep down I love my sister. Every time I come home from preschool, I check to make sure she's there and if she's awake. I say, "Hi Georgie!" and if she's crying I make sure to say, "It's okay. Don't cry, Georgie." Luckily, she doesn't cry much.  Actually, I probably yell more than she does. It's how I get my way... but Mom keeps saying that we are going to put an end to "that kind of behavior".

We'll see about that.

I Have a Pet Peeve.

I don't like it when I go to the library and the Elmo DVD that I really, really want isn't there. When this happens, I imagine myself as a librarian. This is what I would do when the person arrives with the Elmo DVD I want and it's overdue.

First, I would point at them and say, "HEY YOU! Yeah, YOU... in the blue shirt!"
(and not in a quiet librarian voice).

"This was due yesterday!"

"I DON'T CARE WHAT YOUR EXCUSE IS, IT WAS DUE YESTERDAY!!! GET IT? YESTERDAY? Let me spell it out for you.. Yes... ter... DAY!"
(I would go bezerk on that little poor soul.)

Well, that's what I thought I would say, and then Mommy got my attention and said that wasn't very nice (or professional) - and that librarians usually charge a little late fee as punishment and let it go.

So, I closed my eyes and tried to calm down, even though I really, really wanted that Sesame Street DVD.

But if I am ever Queen of the Libraries.... I will rule with an iron fist. *Sigh*

Times are tough...

So I got myself a summer job. I'm waitressing at "Sadie's Diner". It's a lot of work, but I think people have been happy with the food.
First, I ask people what they want. Mommy usually wants pizza. Sometimes she asks for weird toppings. She'll say, "Do you have pineapple?" Sometimes I say yes and sometimes I say no. It depends on the shipment. Freshness counts.

Then I go over to the kitchen, put some pepperoni and chesse on the dough, put it in the oven until it's done.

Then I hand it over. I try to smile, but it's really hot in the kitchen.

When she's all done eating, I ask, "All Done?" and take her plate away. Then I realize it's one more dish to clean. *sigh*

Then I do the math on the bill. Add it all together. Carry the one.... and.... then I hand the bill to her.

I don't like it when she stiffs me on the tip.

WATER FIGHT!!!!

Once Upon a Time, my Mommy and Daddy got this little pool for me that sprays water for those "really hot days". They are also known as the "Sadie-has-too-much-energy-and-can't-stay-in-the-house" days. That's how I heard it.
At first, I wasn't so sure about this "sprinkler" action. The water was straight from the hose and was a little cold. This wasn't like having a bath. Not even close.

Then I thought, "Well, it's water. I'll just drink some of it." But that got messy. I started to get really wet.

And I thought, "I'll just start running through the sprinklers. Then it will just cool me off just a little bit." The water was juuuuuust right.

By that time I was really, really wet. But I needed to catch my breath. I was pondering my next move. Maybe I would go in my castle and play with my dolls for a bit. Maybe cook up a little snack in my kitchen.

But, NO! Then the big Daddy Monster came up behind me and started chasing me!!!

That Daddy Monster does a lot of crazy things like that. He shows up at the most unexpected moments!

Eventually it was a full-on water fight with cups and lots of cold water. And the Daddy Monster didn't have a magical bathing suit on like I did. (Isn't mine cute? Mommy got it at Target.) So I defeated the Daddy Monster until he retreated into the castle to dry off.

And I lived happily ever after...

Moral of the Story: Water Fights are Awesome!

When Nainie and Grampa visited around 4th of July....

We went down to Washington, DC to see the Folklife Festival. I took my water bottle because it gets really, really hot on the National Mall.
Then we got on the Metro. I stayed in my stroller, but all that starting and stopping was kind of fun. Apparently, kids in other places don't have a Metro. That's too bad, 'cause I think they are fun, and you meet interesting people along the way.

When we got to the Folklife Festival, one of the groups they were highlighting were the Welsh. Nainie is Welsh, so she was really excited to see the exhibit. We sat and listened to this guy who is storyteller. He told a story about two brothers, a devil, and some really weird magic. It was a long story, but it was a really good one about why the ocean has salty water. I haven't been to the ocean yet, but Mommy said if I jump in and swim for a bit, I'll taste like a peanut.

But the storyteller talked funny. Apparently the Welsh do that.

Grampa and Nainie are here!!!

They live in Savannah, Georgia so it isn't often that they come up here to hang out with me. Usually, I have to talk to them on the phone, which isn't the same as seeing them in person.

So far we've gone to the Smithsonian Folklife Festival and were in the hot blazen' sun for a good chunk of the time. Mommy has a bit of a sunburn. But we listened to a Welsh storyteller, and he was cool... but he talked funny. I'm still learning my words, but the words I knew didn't sound the same as when he said them.

Anyway, here's some old pictures of me from my birthday in March with Grampa and my new kitchen. He didn't know how to make imaginary stew, so I showed him how. I cut up some carrots, shredded some cheese, tossed in a few mushrooms and put some water in and let it simmer.

It was a vegetarian stew.

My thoughts on the Easter Bunny:

I had never met the Easter Bunny before this year. We have lots of bunnies in our backyard and I always wave to them each morning and say "Hi!!!" They are brown and I've noticed they've multiplied from one bunny to three bunnies. I don't know how they did that, but when I asked Mommy about it, she said, "It's magic."
So, anyway, we went out for brunch on Easter Sunday. And there I was, eating my eggs and fruit when this GIGANTIC bunny comes up behind me and tries to give me candy. I mean, not like a cute little bunny from my backyard. It was HUMUNGOUS!!!
So, I thought about it while sipping my "Bunny Juice" and wondered if anyone else saw this ridiculously huge bunny and if he tried to give THEM candy. But everyone kept acting like everything was normal.
Now I'm wondering if I made up the whole thing in my imagination. It was weird. I mean, if the Easter Bunny left me a basket and hid those eggs, why would he show up to brunch? And why would he give me MORE candy when I'm eating eggs for breakfast? And how did the Easter Bunny become so big in the first place? And where did he get that yellow bowtie he was wearing? Is there a shop for ridiculously humungous bunnies? This just goes along with all of that confusion I had about Easter from last year. Easter is a weird holiday. Christmas, I understand. A mommy, a daddy, a baby, and a lot of presents brought by a big fat man with a white beard. But this Easter thing is hard to wrap my head around.

Can someone explain why I look for eggs on Easter?

This is me with my Easter Basket left by Mr. E. Bunny.
First I examined my goodies and then my parents said there were eggs in the backyard that I had to find. I guess Mr. Bunny dropped a few on his rounds. I got dressed and we headed outside to look for more eggs.

First I found the Blue One. That was pretty easy, and I eventually had no problems finding all of them.

I did knock over my basket once. There were a lot of eggs.

But I couldn't find the Pink One. I kept lookin' and lookin'. I looked in the flowers, in the bushes, on the grass, under the stairs...

I felt a little silly when I found it right behind me. *sigh*

Me and My Daddy.

This is me and my Daddy. I wear him out a lot with all my running around. And that's Abby Cadabby next to me. When you squeeze her, she talks. Grampa and Nainie gave her to my for my 2nd birthday. But anyway, this is a nice quiet moment Daddy and I had together. He was tired and needed a tiny nap. I didn't mind if he used me for a pillow.

Awwww.... aren't parents cute when they sleep?

But then Daddy woke up really, really suddenly and started tickling me!!!

This was my reaction. I love my Daddy, but he's a crazy kooky guy sometimes.

My Grampa is really, really smart...

We were wandering around the Baltimore Aquarium together, and he asked me a question. "Sadie" he said, "What percentage of the Earth is water?" So, I thought about it.

And thought about it.
I knew there was a lot of blue stuff on my atlas at home, but I didn't know what percentage it was.

Then Grampa said, "It's over 70%!!!"

I did not know that.

I'll have to remember that when I'm on Jeopardy someday.

Mommy is keeping me from the computer!!!!

I want to play with Elmo, and I usually do it on the Sesame Street website. Then I can watch only Elmo videos or only Abby Cadabby videos, depending on my mood. But now she and Daddy think I'm a little too into the computer. All I do is run up to it, point and yell, "ELMO!" But they were getting worried that I wouldn't play like the other kids. So, now I'm trying to prove to them that I can play like a normal kid. I play with my Ball Popper, then I run around with my pushy Lion, and then I look at a few books... but I really like the computer. A lot. Then Mommy said she was worried that I would end up a teenager with relationships like this one:

My revenge...

Since Mommy and Daddy won't let me near the computer... I have come up with my own plan.

They started limiting the computer about 2 weeks ago. Apparently they haven't noticed that since they started monitoring my computer time, I have "conveniently" started waking up at 4:30 AM and then proceed to yell. Sometimes they so desperate for sleep now, they plop me in their bed and hope I'll go back to sleep. Instead, I stand up, look down at him, and say, "Hi, Daddy!"

I'm going to see how long I can keep doing this until they give me back my Elmo Time.

Now Mommy is trying to limit my TV Time too!!!

Not cool, Mommy. Not cool.

I'll see you at 4:30AM.... on Thanksgiving Day so you can't sleep in.
