How I spent my 4th of July...

I'm still waiting for Daddy to upload some photos. But I had a great 4th of July! I went to Gettysburg with Grampa and Nainie the week before the 4th, and then on 4th of July weekend I ran around outside with my toddler pool / sprinkler. I got to wear my new bathing suit and everything! I was pretty wiped out after all of that, but I stayed up just for this:

And then all my favorite Muppets started singing! It was awesome.

I like singing. It's fun. And I love Rosita. She's blue and speaks Spanish. And her Daddy is in the military just like my Uncle Eric.

It's Obama Day!!!

Hi Everyone! I want to wish you a very Happy Obama Day!!! Mommy worked hard to make sure a bunch of other kids are having a great time at the Inauguration, but we decided we would stay out of the city (and out of the 19 degree temperatures) to watch it together at home. Some of Mommy's friends are out on the Mall or working today! I can't wait to hear their stories.

Mommy is really excited to see all of those people from all across America hanging around her workplace. She sometimes has meetings at The Castle, and she's proud of all the hard work people do every day to protect our country's history. I don't know a lot of our country's history but I'm learning. Here's some neat information about the Smithsonian during the Civil War!!! I particularly like Oscar the Grouch at the National Museum of American History. That was awesome!
I hope you are as excited as I am!!! Come on, cheer with me now! Yaaaaaayyy!!

I'm running for President!!!

Mommy has been super busy with all of this Obama Inauguration stuff. Even one of her friends was going to interview Shepard Fairey for the Smithsonian Channel, the artist who did that iconic Obama image. But I thought, "Hey, I could do that." So I went to this website, uploaded my photo, and decided to announce my candidacy for 2044. Yeah, I'll be a new young politician, but America might need a little sassy 37 year old woman to shake things up. My first priority will be making sure all little kids have a nice warm home with people who love them, crunchies and applesauce, and clean diapers. I think this is very, very important.

SADIE FOR PRESIDENT ~ 2044!!!

We even tried to get a glimpse of Obama when we was doing his Whistle Stop tour yesterday. It was really, really, really cold. I was not happy. Eventually my parents took me home and got me warm. The train flew by and didn't slow down on it's way to Union Station. It stopped in Baltimore and then went directly to DC. I was a bit bummed we didn't get to see him, but maybe our paths will cross someday.

If I'm ever President or Vice-President of the United States...

... you can be sure my mommy is coming with me. This is Joe Biden and his mommy. There's a lot of talk about the new elected people bringing their mommies with them. I think it's a good idea. I act better when my mommy is around. Don't you?

Now this is the sign of a leader...

But he seems kind of like a dictator, and that might not work in my department when I become the Head of the Office of Toddler Affairs at the White House. I'm more of a collaborator. I'm putting his application in the "Maybe" pile

Yeah, my Uncle is a soldier...

I've had a lot of Obama on here lately... but my Uncle is also a U.S. soldier and I miss him a lot. He's at Fort Bliss in Texas right now, and was in the Middle East earlier this year. We don't know when he'll be sent back again. He's been stop-loss'd. I asked Mommy what that means, and she said that Uncle Eric volunteered 4 years ago, and that when he was supposed to leave this April. But then the Army said, "Nope, we aren't letting you." So he has to stay and put all of his plans for graduate school on hold. I think that's really mean of the Army to do that. But I still love my Uncle Eric and want him to come home soon.

Happy Veteran's Day to my Uncle Eric and to all of his friends!

It's not easy keeping up with this blog...

I'm always begging Daddy to upload my pictures because he has the program at work. But when he goes to work, he's really busy. But then I also have to come up with other photos, new websites, videos, and then there's my side projects: Barefoot Books and The Toddler Political Movement... giving toddlers the right to vote. But here's a run through of how I do this blog. I've been doing it since I was born. It was exhausting at first because being an infant is overwhelming. But I've added more little widgets and stuff as I've grown.

I also look for good videos...

like this one. This video was the Obama campaign lip-syncing to the Les Miserables song "One Day More". Ed encourages me to be a bit political now and then.

After all that blogging...

... Ed and I play Magazine Editor where I publish a magazine for political toddlers seeking the right to vote. I hope President Obama asks me to head up his Office of Toddler's Affairs. I did apply for the job. This is the page for the Bush Administration... but word in Toddlerville is that he wasn't very interested in hiring toddlers, which I found discouraging. He also didn't make family issues very high on his agenda. President Obama has outlined his thoughts on family issues. His views would give working parents more time and flexibility to be with their toddlers and that's really cool.

He looks nice...

Mommy and her friends are really happy this morning. I think this "President" thing sounds kinda cool. It might be a good career move for me. Sadiebug for President ~ 2048!

I wonder if Springsteen could play at my Inaugural Ball.

Yeah, I voted (sorta).

This is the t-shirt my Uncle Bryce gave me awhile ago. Isn't it awesome? Mommy had me vote with Daddy to make sure he did it right. She wanted me to check that he voted for the right person. If he didn't, I was supposed to grab his red baseball hat and throw it on the ground. Mommy and I speak a secret code.

Sometimes they disagree on who to vote for, but there was no arguing in the house this time around. They call it "Dixie Chicks-ing" because it all started when a member of the Dixie Chicks said something nasty about Texas and Mom and Dad disagreed about whether the Chick should have done that or not. They argued about it for a long, long time. So whenever they disagree in politics... it's a Dixie Chick! One of them shouts it, and then the issue has to be dropped because they will never agree. It's funny to watch.

I also want to state one other thing: I'm still mad that toddlers aren't allowed to vote. It wasn't even on the ballot this time around! It better be next election day, or I'm going contact all my toddler friends and we are going to start a non-profit.

Rules of the Playroom --- Toddler Style!

If it's mine it's mine,

if it's yours it's mine,

if I like it is mine,

if I can take it from you it is mine,

if I am playing with something ALL of the pieces are mine,

if I think it is mine it is,

if I saw it first it's mine,

if I had it then put it down it is still mine,

if you had it then you put it down it is now mine,

if it looks like the one I have at home it is mine,

if it is broken...it is yours.

Mommy's bag, which had her wallet in it, was in MY playroom. Under these rules I had every right to take her wallet. And I had every right to have a hissy fit when she took it back. I think I'm going to start a Toddler Rights Association.

Mommy is working on stuff for Inauguration Day...

... so I thought I would post this to entertain her. She likes musicals.

I ponder these things very seriously....

This is my first experience with the election process. I find it all very confusing. I hear a lot of people talking about silly things, like lipstick on pigs and a whole lot about someone being from Alaska, but I'm not hearing a lot about healthcare for little kids like me. And there's nuthin' on affordable childcare or how to lower the cost of things I use a lot... like milk, diapers and most importantly TOYS. I dunno, I feel like the establishment isn't really talking to me. I know now that I'm not old enough to vote (which is so NOT cool.) My t-shirt in the photo is from my Uncle Bryce... it says, "I Support My Parent's Political Beliefs". I know what my mommy thinks. She can't shut up about it. I wonder who Santa is voting for.... oh... wait... now I know.

I'm voting for more toddler rights!!!!

I know Mommy and Daddy think they run the house... (actually Mommy does, but Daddy pretends he does). But I think I should have equal say. I never get to choose when I go to bed, or what I'm going to wear (although this outfit is pretty cute), and I don't even have a little freedom about this diaper-changing thing. I figured out how to take my diaper off... but I haven't figured out what to do after that. I'm working on that.

So when Mommy and Daddy get out of line... this is what I do....

A Brief Bipartisan Happy Mother's Day Message!!!!

I plan to be politically active as soon as I can use my words and put them into clear sentences. Happy Mother's Day to all the totally awesome mommies!!!

I was playing with my ball the other day...

while Mommy was watching the news. And she said, "Wow, it would be pretty cool to have a female President of the United States. Did you know we've never had a woman president, Sadie?"

Um, no.
Look, I know I'm new here. But there MUST have been a female president at some time in our history. We've been around for, like, a bazillion years.
So, I thought I would just double check. Just in case Mommy was wrong.

So the next day I crawled over to the bookshelves...

... and started my research. Mommy had to be wrong. I mean, of course there was a woman President of the United States. Duh... there are woman doctors, and woman teachers, woman superheroes, and woman accountants.

I don't know what I'm going to be when I grow up... but I was considering politics. I'm a people person.

I started pulling books off the shelves...

and kept lookin'. I liked doing research. It was fun. And I needed a break from the ball popper.
