I Have a Pet Peeve.

I don't like it when I go to the library and the Elmo DVD that I really, really want isn't there. When this happens, I imagine myself as a librarian. This is what I would do when the person arrives with the Elmo DVD I want and it's overdue.

First, I would point at them and say, "HEY YOU! Yeah, YOU... in the blue shirt!"

(and not in a quiet librarian voice).

"This was due yesterday!"

"I DON'T CARE WHAT YOUR EXCUSE IS, IT WAS DUE YESTERDAY!!! GET IT? YESTERDAY? Let me spell it out for you.. Yes... ter... DAY!"

(I would go bezerk on that little poor soul.)

Well, that's what I thought I would say, and then Mommy got my attention and said that wasn't very nice (or professional) - and that librarians usually charge a little late fee as punishment and let it go.

So, I closed my eyes and tried to calm down, even though I really, really wanted that Sesame Street DVD.

But if I am ever Queen of the Libraries.... I will rule with an iron fist. *Sigh*
