Oops.

I've been a bit on the clumsy side lately. Nobody wants to give me expensive things because I have a tendency to throw them, drop them, and play with them a bit too hard.

I'm really just a curious kid. Then I found this website... and realized my clumsiness goes into the virtual world too. Click on the site, and look at the onesie... and wait a few moments. My clumsiness will astound you! *sigh* All I wanted to do was a little online shopping.

P.S. Sorry I busted your camera, Mommy. I'm sure we can get the lens fixed. It just seemed like a cool thing to throw across the bookstore when we were meeting the Phelps family. My bad.

Dear Mr. Phelps,

I knew our paths would cross someday!!! I know you were really, really busy, but it was awesome that you showed up at your mom's booksigning in Ellicott City for her book A Mother For All Seasons. I'll have to admit, I got a little excited. Okay, I was a bit kooky. I was the 2 year old yelling in the background when your mom was talking about what it was like to write her book. Then you came out and everyone was really surprised. There was a collective *GASP* from the crowd. But I guess you are used to that.

But then we had to wait in line to meet your mom and your sister, Hilary. Do you know what it is like for a two year old to wait in line? It's hard. And boring. And I didn't have any toys to play with, so I played with Mommy's cell phone.

We finally got to the front of the line and your Mommy wrote "To The Joynes Family, Love the Phelps Family". Your sister Hilary really liked my name. I got a little shy at that point. I mean, I like her name too. It's pretty.

Mr. Phelps... it was nice that you stopped by the bookstore. I think your Mommy really appreciated it. And by the way, your Mommy is really nice. I like her. And I hope she had a great Mother's Day.

Love, Sadie Angelica

P.S. When can we start swimming lessons? I'm planning on having a kiddie pool in my backyard this summer.

On really rainy days....

I wonder what it would be like to breathe underwater. I tried to do that when I went swimming last year, and it wasn't such a good idea. But fish breathe underwater, and that's pretty cool. Mommy says I could learn how to Scuba dive and then I could breathe underwater like a fish.

This is me at the National Aquarium in Baltimore thinking deep thoughts.

Those fish sure are pretty.

The Olympics inspired me this year....

I had no idea there were so many countries. Mommy and Daddy try to make sure I explore museums, different kinds of art, and sometimes we travel outside of Maryland. But then, during the Olympics, I learned there was a humungous world out there that I didn't know about. So I thought I would learn more about these other places. Sesame Street helps me with that, and so do Barefoot Books. I wonder how old I'll be when I get one of those passport thingies.

I've been working on my ABC's, and Mommy and I watch this video a lot. It's a really pretty version of the ABC's. I'm going to try to find more international cool stuff for my blog. This is Zulu... and those people live in South Africa.

Dear Mr. Phelps,

I hope you received my last blog post that I wrote to you. I still hope you can be my coach so I can learn how to swim. When I was in Canfield, Ohio for my family's hootenanny, the hotel had a pool. Mommy thought this would be a good chance for me to have my first "dip in the pool". I think you can tell from my photo, I was nervous. But I really wanted to put my bathing suit to good use, and figure out this swimming thing.

I started by putting my feet in the water...

... but I was still a little nervous. I had never done this before and I wasn't sure what to expect.

Then we got in a little deeper...

... and for the record, the water was a little cold.

Seriously...

... the water was cold.

It felt kinda weird...

...floating around in the water. I was still a little nervous, but Mommy promised she wouldn't let go. Once I got used to it, I had so much fun! It's better than running because I don't have to worry about falling down.

I don't know if it's an Olympic Event...

... but I particularly enjoyed doing "The Cannonball."

I've decided that I really love swimming...

... so if you are able to be my coach, I'd really like to work with you.
Sincerely,
Sadie Angelica

So... about these Olympics...

When I was born, I was like, "Good Morning, Baltimore!!!!"... and then I learned that Baltimore was part of Maryland, which was part of the United States. Then we sat down as a family to watch the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics. Then I got confused. Mommy explained that the United States of America is one country on the planet Earth, and that we share it with a whole bunch of other countries. I did not know that. Interesting....

So, I pulled an atlas off the shelf, got a bunch of munchies and tried to figure out what country all the athletes came from and how they got to China. But I noticed nobody came from Antarctica. Weren't they invited?

Dear Mr. Phelps,

My name is Sadie, and I'm a kid who wants to learn how to swim. I don't know how to swim yet, but I've heard you would be a good person to teach me. Will you be my coach? Mommy says that even though you go to University of Michigan, you will be returning to Baltimore. Baltimore is a nice place to live. I like it here. But I really would like to learn how to swim. Mommy also said you won a lot of gold medals (that must have been really, really hard) and that you are a very nice male specimen (whatever that means.) I hope we can meet soon.
Your biggest fan,
Sadiebug- future Olympic hopeful in the doggie paddle.
