Princess and the Pea

Mom was invited down to Colonial Williamsburg for another round of interviews and Dad, Georgie and I decided to go with her to see if it's a place where we want to live. But I found the hotel room to be a bit challenging. I love hopping in and out of bed for a whole bunch of reasons. But apparently you aren't supposed to do that in the 18th century.

And can I still blog if we move to Colonial Williamsburg? Did they get wi-fi back then? This could be a dealbreaker for me. If I can't get YouTube, I'm not goin'. And Mommy paused when I asked her where Sesame Street was on the map when we were in the Visitor's Center. But I liked William & Mary... I might consider it for college. We'll see.

Okay. Georgina can stay.

I've come to the conclusion that Georgie can stay with our family. I kept bugging Mom about taking her back to the hospital, but she wouldn't budge. She said she brought me home from the hospital too, and she didn't send me back when I cried. I guess she has a point.

So I'm trying to make the best of it. I like tickling Georgie. And that makes her smile.

But that kid drools a lot and gets it all over the blanket.

Ew. Gross.

It's hard to be serious....

... it hurts my eyebrows. I don't recommend it.

The Moon is Broken!!!!

I would like to point out to everyone something I noticed about 2 months ago. The Moon is broken. Yes, I know this may be shocking, but I pointed this out to Mom.

I pointed at the moon and told her very clearly, "The Moon is broken!!!!"
She responded that she would notify NASA about it and get back to me. A few days later, she said she contacted them, and they said they've been trying to fix it for a long, long time. Apparently, it breaks all the time! It starts out big and round, and as the month goes on, it breaks off in pieces! Little bits each night fall off, and eventually there's nothing left. Then, NASA starts putting it together again piece by piece, until it's round. But then it starts all over again.

I'd hate to be the guy in charge of that project.

I'm a big fan of the Moon. I say goodnight to her every night. I even read the book to my little sister Georgie.

And in case you have never heard Goodnight, Moon... let me read it to you. (I had a cold at the time, so my voice is a little off.):

*Sigh* I tried....

I've been looking for a new place to nap. This place, on Mom's old toy chest, did not work out.

I love Mama and Papa!

I still watch Elmo a lot, but lately I've been loving the Berenstain Bears! They live in a treehouse in Bear Country, and I'm hoping Mom and Dad will consider this kind of house in our next move. I've also decided that I will no longer use "Mom" and "Dad" to refer to my parents. They are now Mama and Papa!

I told Mom the other day that she is just like Mama. Here's what it says about Mama on the Berenstain Bears website: Warm, wise and witty. She is president of the Bear Country Garden Club and is a champion quiltmaker. Mama's favorite recipe is honey cured salmon. The only real problem she has in life is Brother and Sister's messy, messy room.

Okay, maybe they aren't exactly alike...

But I told her that I think they look alike too. When I told Mom that, she decided she needed a makeover.

And I can't wait until Halloween! Maybe Mom and Dad can be Mama and Papa Berenstain. That would be so cool!

This my friend Jerry... he's in a band.

Jerry has lived in my house my whole life. He's a groovy little dude with a big beard. My daddy said his music is really awesome, and we listen to it in the car all the time when we are driving to the library. But I thought all of you should meet Jerry too.

It's been a very hot summer...

There have been days this year that were over 100 degrees!!! So, I figured out that if I tap dance over the air conditioning, it can keep me cool.

I get distracted sometimes, but I was also pointing out my awesome KISS Mr. Tater Head. It looks like he is holding a violin (but I know it's a guitar.) I haven't decided which instrument I want to play... I like guitars, violins, but I really like drums. But Mom isn't always a fan of my drumming. I like it loud.

Music Break!

I've been listening to "Tall" by Milkshake a lot lately. But sometimes you need to find new tunes. So, I'm giving this one a try. It's from Barefoot Books. And I like the song's jazzy feel.

I wish I was a Tater Head...

I love my Mr. Tater Head... I even have one that looks like a member from KISS, cuz' I'm rockin' like that. But I heard that Mommy's friend Miss Jackie was having a problem. She was missing all the ears to her Tater Heads! I found this funny, because I had my ears, I just couldn't find the mouth!

There must be a secret place that all the Tater parts go when you aren't looking.

Ain't No Party Like a Preschool Party!!!

Today we celebrated my 3rd birthday at preschool! My REAL birthday isn't until Saturday, but Emilie and I both a b-days around the same time, so we shared the party. We even had ice cream cups! But the best part about celebrating my birthday is having all my friends with me.

You're my friend, You're my friend... and you... in the back... You're my friend too! Think I'm kidding? Let me sing you a song about how awesome friends are:

I'm a Recess Monkey Groupie

I don't know how this lucky kid got the Seattle band Recess Monkey to play his birthday party, but this would be awesome! This is the band singing Birthday Bite. They sing a lot of cool songs that don't make my Mommy question what happened to children's music. Here's more of their stuff on their website.

I like their song "Pandas" too. They eat bamboo. 40 pounds a day actually. They also have great tunes like "The Pool" and "I Got a Toy (But I Played with the Box.)"

By the way, in case you missed my subtle hint... my 3rd birthday is coming up on MARCH 27th!

I've Grown Wings!

Well, not really... these are my fairy wings, but for now I'm using them as angel wings for Christmas. Lately, I've had a thing for Christmas Eve on Sesame Street and the song "Keep Christmas With You." It's really old (1978) and Mommy said she and Uncle Eric and Uncle Bryce grew up watching it.

I've even tried to do a little sign language like the other little kids. It's looks easier than it really is. But I do sing along. I have a hard time with the high note though. But really, who doesn't?

At the same time, I must emphasize to Santa that I've been really, really, really good this year. So, I hope he will consider the breakdown of gifts to be like this. That's Mom's stocking, then Dad's.... then mine. I think that's fair.

Mommy wanted Brad Pitt to sing me to sleep...

... but I got this instead. She even wouldn't mind having Sheldon (Jim Parsons) from the Big Bang Theory singing me to sleep.

I won't go to sleep easily until Brad Pitt sings me to sleep. Period.

I went on a HAYRIDE!!!

Mommy took Thursday and Friday off for her birthday and so she could come with me to playschool for the hayride. She said a lot of her friends thought it was crazy that she would hang out with 12 toddlers, but we were pretty well behaved. Well, until Natalie picked up some hay and we thought it would be fun to throw it around. The video is a little wobbly because the trailer was bumping around, Mommy was holding on to me, and well... I did this...

Here's a still picture of me.

However, I did not see The Great Pumpkin while we were out there. Still workin' on that one.

Sadie the Astronaut....

Mommy sometimes goes over to the National Air and Space Museum for work stuff, and she brings home cool things for me. She bought me Violet the Pilot and Sadie the Air Mail Pilot, and both are very, very good. I highly recommend them.

But I'm thinking of doing bigger and better things. Like, going to space and walking on the moon. A few months ago, Mommy actually met an astronaut named Alan Bean. He was the fourth guy to walk on the moon. He's an artist too, which makes him even more cool. I also think Buzz Aldrin is pretty neat. I like his name.

Buzzzzz.....

Finally... a video of ME!!!

Mommy got an iPhone for her birthday and she started taking video of me. This is when we were dropping her off at the train the other day. I had a busy day planned, but then Dad wanted to sing Skidamarinky-doo to me. I love my Daddy, but Mom sings it better. I'm just sayin'.

Anyway, if you watch this video, you'll see how I feel about Daddy's singing. I love the guy, and he's great with lots of other things - like making me laugh, and being patient with me even when I'm not patient with him. But as for his singing...

I've been told I'm a Wild Thing...

And Mommy and Daddy don't understand why I'm not all gung-ho about sleeping in my room with my new bed. (Dad turned my crib into a big girl bed over the weekend. But frankly, I wanted to sleep on the floor.)

Here's my reason: Because it's scary!

It's really dark. And there are monsters, and things with lots of arms and legs that are under my bed, and don't get me started with that thing in the closet. I don't even know what that is - but it makes funny noises. But lately Mom reminded me that Elmo is a monster, and so is Zoe and that blue one, Grover. Cookie Monster is just a little kooky around cookies.

So now I'm rethinking this whole "monster" thing. I think it's just a bad stereotype. Now that I think of it, I can be a bit intimidating too. I'm big for my age, and that could be a little scary for some people.

I have a lot of names to learn...

I like learning people's names. Mommy and Daddy help out a lot. I ask the guy at Wendy's what his name is. And I ask the lady at the bank. And I ask the man at the store. I've met a lot of people this way. I just look at them and say, "Name?" and they tell me. Now I'm going to preschool tomorrow, and my teachers are Miss Penny, Miss Amy, and Miss Pilar. Miss Penny wears cool Converse sneakers like me. There are going to be a lot of other kids and I have to learn their names.

But then I learned that Mommy and Daddy have OTHER names. Apparently, Mommy is known as Stephanie and Daddy is Charlie. I like saying his name. Sometime I just yell it around the house, like Mommy does. "Charlie! Chaaarlie!!!"

And we have last names too!!! This is a bit overwhelming, but I'll get it.

How I spent my 4th of July...

I'm still waiting for Daddy to upload some photos. But I had a great 4th of July! I went to Gettysburg with Grampa and Nainie the week before the 4th, and then on 4th of July weekend I ran around outside with my toddler pool / sprinkler. I got to wear my new bathing suit and everything! I was pretty wiped out after all of that, but I stayed up just for this:

And then all my favorite Muppets started singing! It was awesome.

I like singing. It's fun. And I love Rosita. She's blue and speaks Spanish. And her Daddy is in the military just like my Uncle Eric.
