In case you were wondering why I'm not dating...

This is why:

Daddy says that these guys aren't really worth my time. I'm looking for someone who is funny, cute, and likes crunchies and applesauce. I don't think online dating is for me. These boys seem too immature for my taste.

A Note from Sadie....

If you don't hear from us for a bit, it's 'cause we are sick. I went to Dr. Sherri and she said I had a virus. Well, this virus makes me droopy, fevery, snotty, pukey, and did I mention snotty? I accidentally made bubbles come out of my nose earlier.

Daddy isn't much better. He has what I have, but all of it is bigger, 'cause he's a big guy.

Mommy had taken a break from eating anything, because I heard her say, "Good God, I haven't thrown up this much since I was pregnant!" I think that was my fault. Sorry about that. But she's all sore, and has a headache. She said she got the flu shot, so she doesn't know why she feels so icky.

Oh, I have to take a break from writing.... I'm coughing up a lot of icky stuff. Yuck!

It's Obama Day!!!

Hi Everyone! I want to wish you a very Happy Obama Day!!! Mommy worked hard to make sure a bunch of other kids are having a great time at the Inauguration, but we decided we would stay out of the city (and out of the 19 degree temperatures) to watch it together at home. Some of Mommy's friends are out on the Mall or working today! I can't wait to hear their stories.

Mommy is really excited to see all of those people from all across America hanging around her workplace. She sometimes has meetings at The Castle, and she's proud of all the hard work people do every day to protect our country's history. I don't know a lot of our country's history but I'm learning. Here's some neat information about the Smithsonian during the Civil War!!! I particularly like Oscar the Grouch at the National Museum of American History. That was awesome!
I hope you are as excited as I am!!! Come on, cheer with me now! Yaaaaaayyy!!

I'm running for President!!!

Mommy has been super busy with all of this Obama Inauguration stuff. Even one of her friends was going to interview Shepard Fairey for the Smithsonian Channel, the artist who did that iconic Obama image. But I thought, "Hey, I could do that." So I went to this website, uploaded my photo, and decided to announce my candidacy for 2044. Yeah, I'll be a new young politician, but America might need a little sassy 37 year old woman to shake things up. My first priority will be making sure all little kids have a nice warm home with people who love them, crunchies and applesauce, and clean diapers. I think this is very, very important.

SADIE FOR PRESIDENT ~ 2044!!!

We even tried to get a glimpse of Obama when we was doing his Whistle Stop tour yesterday. It was really, really, really cold. I was not happy. Eventually my parents took me home and got me warm. The train flew by and didn't slow down on it's way to Union Station. It stopped in Baltimore and then went directly to DC. I was a bit bummed we didn't get to see him, but maybe our paths will cross someday.

I like playing Shoppers Food Warehouse...

I put my baby Amelie in her stroller, grab my purse, and pick up some Spaghetti-O's for dinner. Amelie is my dolly that Nana and Poppy gave me for Christmas. I'm supposed to take really good care of her for two reasons...

1. She's my little baby.
2. Daddy said he'll call Doll Protective Services if
I mistreat her in any way.

I make sure she's safely in her stroller, and I give her lots of hugs and kisses. Sometimes I give her crunchies. Amelie is a good kid... but she speaks French so sometimes we have communication glitches and cultural misunderstandings.

The best thing about Fridays is....

I get to go to Grandma's!!! Every Friday, Daddy drops me off at Grandma's and we have fun together. She reads to me. She tries to teach me how to be a lady (No picking my nose, No tantrums). We also like to sing together. I still love my ABC's and I do sing them. Up to about about K, then I jump to Q, W, and "Now I know ABC's". It's a work in progress. That song has a lot of lyrics.

By the way, I usually do not encounter wolves on the way to Grandma's and I don't think there are any hiding in her condo. Okay, now I'm off to Grandma's....

Hi Grampa!

Grampa was in Washington, DC for business stuff, so Daddy and I made a little trip down to where Mommy works so we could all have lunch and go to a museum. I think everyone thought I would forget Grampa 'cause I haven't seen him in awhile. But no, I remember both Grampa AND Nainie. They live in Savannah, Georgia so I don't get to see them as often.

Grampa had meetings on "The Hill" and ended up being there when some guy from Illinois wanted to sit in a Senator seat. But the people said, "No, you can't have that seat. You have to sit outside." Mommy said it's a lot more complicated than that, but that's how I heard it.

After lunch, we went over to the National Museum of Natural History (the one with the big elephant.) And we saw this exhibit. The photographs were really pretty.

The picture above is of me and Grampa from a long time ago, when I was really little. I didn't know how the camera thing worked until I really examined it. Like in this picture:

My New Year's resolution to become more assertive...

.... isn't working out too well. Last night I climbed up on my little red IKEA table and did a full somersault into my pack n' play....which by the way was really fun and must have looked really cool. I wish I had a video of it. But the Big Mama didn't like it very much. And I didn't think it through. I ended up stuck in the pack n' play with no way out! And since Big Mama didn't think it was as cool as I did, she left me there. She said, I "needed to learn a lesson." So, I tried being assertive. I yelled. Then I screamed. Then I threw myself back and had a full on hissy-fit. But no. Still didn't work. Eventually, I was worn out and asked for some milk and crunchies... which Big Mama provided. But I was stuck in that pack n' play for a good 15 minutes, which in Toddler Time is an eternity.

So, I'm think my resolution should be TEAMWORK.... as shown by these panda bears. I wish a panda bear had been there to help me out of that pack n' play. But Big Mama said that we are a family and that we should all pitch in to make life easier for all of us.

Oops. That was unexpected....

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my parents for cleaning up my Ladybug, my sheets, my blankie, and my pajamas after I puked tonight. I know it's not how they expected to finish their holiday. I was a little kooky this evening and ate too much, drank too much milk, ran around too much, and then yelled too much at bedtime. So, just to make sure they know I appreciate the cleanup... Thanks!
Love,

People love giving me balloons...

Daddy usually ties them to my wrist so they don't float away. But where do they go if they do float away? It looks like the sky is a big, big place. When I found this video, I thought, "Hmmm.... that sounds right."

We are saying good-bye to Great-Grandad today...

Mommy explained to me that there's this place called Heaven. It's a nice place, and that's where I came from before I came into the world. But Mommy also said there's a place we go after we live our life, and that's where Great-Grandad went on Monday while we were all sleeping. Someday, we all go back to that place where I came from and where Grandad is now. I was really lucky to meet Grandad here on Earth, because most people don't even meet their Great-Grandad like I did. This is me and Grandad meeting. He was nice. I was 2 months old.

We had a great time last Father's Day. That's me and my daddy, and Poppy, and Grandad. Mommy told me that I was incorrect in thinking that Grandad knew Abraham Lincoln. But he DID meet Franklin Delano Roosevelt (I heard he was a really important person too.) They met when Grandad was a teenager. Grandad went to heaven at the age of 92. I'm not even 2 yet!

I'd like to think that I could come up with something deep and profound. But since I'm not even two years old yet, I tend to turn to the Muppets during times like these. This clip helps me think about this kind of stuff. Grandad loved writing, and he always had ideas about what to write about. I know he would find it funny that I would post something from the Muppets. He interviewed Jim Henson a long, long time ago when he was a reporter in Baltimore.

I know I hated baths at first...

But now I think they are so much fun! I really hated bathtime at first... it just wasn't my thing. I really didn't like getting out and being cold. But it started to grow on me and it's the only time my hair actually doesn't curl or stick out. And I like to feel like I'm a mini-Phelps. Another one of my New Year's Resolution is to learn how to swim. I really liked it when I was at in Ohio and Mommy showed me what you do in a pool, It's like a really big bathtub. And you get to wear a pretty bathing suit too.

The Olympics inspired me this year....

I had no idea there were so many countries. Mommy and Daddy try to make sure I explore museums, different kinds of art, and sometimes we travel outside of Maryland. But then, during the Olympics, I learned there was a humungous world out there that I didn't know about. So I thought I would learn more about these other places. Sesame Street helps me with that, and so do Barefoot Books. I wonder how old I'll be when I get one of those passport thingies.

I've been working on my ABC's, and Mommy and I watch this video a lot. It's a really pretty version of the ABC's. I'm going to try to find more international cool stuff for my blog. This is Zulu... and those people live in South Africa.
